Central Otago Health Inc provides a link between the Dunstan Hospital and the regions in the Central Otago Community and appoints directors of Central Otago Health Services Ltd as required. Central Otago Health Inc is the sole shareholder of Central Otago Health Services Ltd which operates Dunstan Hospital.
Meet our Committee Members
The committee of Central Otago Health Inc. represents the Vincent, Teviot Valley, Cromwell and Wanaka wards, as well as Tangata Whenua and clinical staff from Dunstan Hospital.
Chairperson Central Otago Health Inc and Representative for Teviot
Caroline Tamblyn has represented Teviot Valley residents on the Central Otago Health Inc Trust since 2019. She is proud to support Dunstan Hospital and the dedicated team who provide essential health services to the region.
Caroline lives at Coal Creek near Roxburgh with her husband. Their two sons have now grown up and left home. With a background in resource management, Caroline has a strong interest in rural and community issues. She currently works for Parliamentary Services and has previously worked as a support worker assisting elderly people in their homes.
Caroline Tamlyn
Representative for WānakaAidan Craig is an experienced senior executive with more than 35 years of leadership experience across a range of industries including publishing, tourism, outdoor recreation, and construction. Over the past 15 years he has focused on developing and operating retirement villages and care facilities within both commercial and not-for-profit sectors.
Aidan now works independently in property development and business consulting. He lives in Wānaka with his wife and has two adult children. Having lived in the South Island for over 20 years, he has a strong connection to the region’s outdoor environment and has spent many years competing in multisport and expedition adventure racing events both in New Zealand and internationally.
Aidan Craig
Representative for VincentCam Dykes has lived in Central Otago for more than 30 years, where he raised his family while working as a Chartered Accountant and director of ICL Chartered Accountants. He now focuses on business consultancy work, which continues to keep him connected with many rural businesses across the district.
Cam’s professional work, along with his involvement in local schools and community groups, has given him strong insight into the needs and challenges facing health service provision in the region. Supporting his parents during their later years locally also reinforced his appreciation of the important role Dunstan Hospital plays in the community. Cam serves as Treasurer of the Central Otago Health Inc Trust.
Cam Dykes
Representative for VincentTracy Paterson originally grew up in the North Island before moving to Central Otago after university and a period of travelling and working overseas. She now farms in Omakau with her husband and their three young adult children.
Recognising the importance of accessible healthcare to strong rural communities, Tracy joined Central Otago Health Inc to contribute to the ongoing support and development of local health services. Through many years and several national health system reforms, she remains proud of the exceptional care provided by the Dunstan Hospital team.
Tracy Paterson
Representative for Tangata Whenua
Matt Fowler serves as the tangata whenua representative on the Central Otago Health Inc Trust and is currently in his fourth year in the role. He has valued the opportunity to grow into the position while representing the interests and perspectives of Māori within the organisation.
Matt lives in Alexandra with his wife Denise, and they have four children. He has long been actively involved in the local community, particularly through sport where he has contributed as both a coach and committee member. Matt is also involved with Otago Māori Rugby and previously served as the Māori representative on the Dunstan High School Board of Trustees. He is passionate about advocating for both Māori and the wider community.
Matt Fowler
Clinical Representative Michelle Smith is a Registered Nurse who has been working at Dunstan Hospital since 2007 in a variety of nursing and leadership roles. Since qualifying in 1998, Michelle’s career has taken her to a number of cities across New Zealand as well as rural Australia, but she has found her true passion in rural healthcare.
Based in Alexandra, Michelle also works part-time for the University of Otago as a research nurse supporting a range of rural health research projects across New Zealand. She completed her Master of Health Sciences (Nursing) through the University of Otago in 2023. Michelle is passionate about rural nursing, research, and ensuring rural communities have equitable access to quality health services. Outside of work she enjoys a range of outdoor pursuits, including mountain biking.
Michelle Smith
Clinical Representative Trevor Lloyd lives on a small farm in Bannockburn and has been a doctor at Dunstan Hospital since 2000. Originally from Central Otago, he graduated from the University of Otago in 1976 and has worked as both a GP and Rural Hospital Doctor in a range of locations across New Zealand and internationally, including Vanuatu.
Trevor has a strong interest in rural health services, particularly in the areas of service delivery, research, and education. His long-standing involvement in rural medicine reflects his commitment to supporting high-quality healthcare for rural communities.
Trevor Lloyd
Representative for WanakaLeigh Overton farmed a hill country property in Southland before moving to Wānaka with his wife Nickie in 1996. He later spent 15 years involved in local government with the Queenstown Lakes District Council, including service on the Wānaka Community Board and Council. During this time he also chaired two council committees and served as a Resource Consent Commissioner.
Leigh first became involved with Dunstan Hospital in the early 2000s and was appointed to the Central Otago Health Inc Trust in late 2016. He is now in his tenth year of service and has spent the past seven years as Deputy Chair.
Leigh Overton
Representative for CromwellBob Scott originally moved to New Zealand from the United Kingdom 22 years ago and has lived in Cromwell with his wife for the past 11 years. Prior to retiring, he owned and operated his own kitchen design and installation business in the UK and later worked as a kitchen designer.
Bob has been actively involved in the Cromwell community, serving four years on the Cromwell Community Board before being elected as Cromwell Ward Councillor in October 2025. He is also a past President of the Cromwell Golf Club and currently serves as Board Chair. After personally experiencing the high level of care provided by Dunstan Hospital, Bob is pleased to support its ongoing role in delivering equitable healthcare to the community.
